Does nobody look past the old GTIs, Corrado, and new Scirocco to see the beautiful MkI and MkII Sciroccos? They are pretty nice looking and had good powerplants as well.

Funny you mention that, I was perusing Craigslist yesterday and found this: http://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/4306397989…

I've loved them since I was a kid. I still remember seeing them fairly new.
Sadly, here in the Midwest Mother Nature reclaimed her elements pretty quickly.

Senior swagfag at my school had a "Stanced" MK1 in a fuel/bronze color. It looked great!
I love the MK2 16v's though. such a cool car

NP! Although no mention of rust and no pics make it seem a bit suspicious...

The first manual transmission I ever drove was when I stole my friend's MkI Scirocco.... Asked to see her keychain because there was some interesting bauble attached. Grabbed it and ran out of her house to the front yard, hopped in her car, locked the doors, started it up and drove off. She was chasing me down the street yelling "stop! come back!" as I drove away, but you know, all in good fun to a slightly sociopathic 16 year old....

I had the manual transmission concept down from playing "Test Drive" on my Amiga, but the physical coordination took several shifts to really get right. I didn't stall it because I kept the revs way up at video game levels in the low gears. After a few laps around the block in a residential neighborhood I brought it back to her, by now sitting and crying on the curb. She pretty quickly forgave me, which speaks much more about her grace than the severity of the infraction.

Holy crap, was I a jerk.

Anyway, Yes, I have a soft spot for old Sciroccos.

Love 'em. Very hard to find an unmolested Mk1 anymore.

I'd love to see a faithful update to the Scirocco line, not the squished Golf currently wearing that nameplate.

I much prefer the 'rocco to the gti.

Damn, that sounds like a cool time to learn how to row your own. Besides, it's more fun when you forcefully borrow things.

I had a MKI 1.5. Found an extremely low-mileage MkII 1.8 in a wrecking yard that was mechanically perfect. Swapped everything into the MKI and took it autocrossing in C/SP. Loved that car. Car got totaled in a rear-ender and the all the parts then went into an early Rabbit Diesel.
